Wellness Wednesday Blog Series

As our industry continues to face burnout, compassion fatigue, and the never-ending influx of new patients and issues relating to the COVID-19 crisis, more and more veterinary staff members are leaving the industry. If you are in this field, we’re sure you know at least one person who is severely impacted by burnout.

As much as we wish it were possible, it’s impossible to fix this industry overnight. However, we can all focus on making positive changes in our lives to combat our own burnout and compassion fatigue.

One of the biggest things that drives people to this industry is having loads of compassion and empathy for animals and their families. This is both a gift and a curse as so many of us carry the burdens of not only our own mental and physical health, but also the mental and physical health of our clients, patients, and other staff members.

The past few years have been incredibly stressful, and we’re here to tell you to take care of yourself first, before anybody else. You are the most important person in your life. Over the next several weeks, we will be focusing our blog posts on many different avenues of self care. We know that it can look different for everyone, but we hope that you can find at least one technique, strategy, or piece of knowledge that can help you find a way to focus on yourself, for at least a little bit. You are important, you are valued, and you are appreciated.
